Online furniture design software for carpenters

Prosciej (prosciej.com) is a browser-based design program for panel furniture, made for carpenters, workshops, furniture and board sellers, and hobbyists. You draw the room and the cabinets in 3D, and it works out the cutting list with edge banding, the sheet layout and the quote, then turns them into PDF and DXF, with no install, on Mac and Windows.

From the room to the cutting list in one browser window

You start with the room: enter its dimensions or draw the walls, and add sloped ceilings and several rooms if you need them. Then you place furniture from parametric cabinets, and the cutting list recalculates with the design as you go.

  1. Set up the room: dimensions or drawn walls, sloped ceilings, several rooms.
  2. Add furniture: base, wall and tall cabinets, vanity units, a desk, a sliding-door wardrobe, a niche unit and a corner cabinet, or use the built-in wizard (kitchen, a wardrobe along a wall, a built-in under a slope).
  3. Fill the carcasses with drawers, shelves and doors that open in 3D, and pick from over 500 EGGER and Kronospan decors.
  4. Read the cutting list, the sheet layout and the quote from the same design.
  5. Export PDF, DXF or CSV/XLSX and send the client a link to a 3D preview.

What the cutting list contains

The cutting list is generated from the 3D design, so changing a cabinet's size changes the part sizes right away. You can also add parts by hand. Every line gives you:

  • finished size and cut size after subtracting the edge banding
  • banded edges (banding on all four edges)
  • grain direction
  • bevels and chamfers
  • position numbers
  • parts added by hand

Sheet layout and quote from the same design

The sheet layout places the parts on a 2800 × 2070 mm board, allowing for the saw kerf, an allowance for trimming the board's edges and the grain direction; each sheet holds one decor in one thickness. By default the kerf is 4.8 mm, the trim is 10 mm off each edge of the board, and banding is 2.0 mm on fronts and 0.8 mm on the carcass. You can set all of these to match your workshop.

The quote is board area in m² times your own price for that decor and thickness, plus edge banding per metre. Decors ship without prices, so you enter your own price list or import it from a CSV file.

If you only need a list and no 3D model, there is also a standalone cutting list tool with .xlsx import.

Export: PDF, DXF and CSV/XLSX

One design gives you files for the workshop, the board supplier and the client. Exports are part of the paid Standard plan.

  • PDF: the cutting list and the sheet layout, optionally with prices, plus a technical drawing and a drawing for the client.
  • DXF: the outlines of the parts laid out on the sheets, with separate layers for each piece of furniture and the grain direction.
  • CSV and XLSX: the Prosciej template and CSV files for FastCut and Order Manager; the list also works with eRozkroje.

A 3D preview link for the client

You send the client a link that opens the design in a browser as a read-only 3D preview: no account, no prices and no cutting list. That way you show the furniture in the room before anything is cut.

The client link is part of the Standard plan.

Who it is for, and how it works in the browser

Prosciej is for carpenters and furniture workshops, for sellers of furniture and boards who quote and show a design to a customer, and for hobbyists who build panel furniture themselves.

Interior and furniture designers use it too: the Standard plan renders the design in 3D for the client, and household appliances to place in the built-ins are coming soon. The program is developed together with the carpenters who already use it — many features exist thanks to them.

It runs in the browser on a Mac or a Windows computer, so there is nothing to install. The interface comes in six languages: Polish, English, German, Italian, French and Spanish.

The Free plan is a demo of the editor without saving projects or exports; saving, PDF, DXF, CSV and the client link come with the paid Standard plan. Current prices are on the pricing page.

Already in the editor today

Besides the cutting list, the sheet layout and the quote, the editor has many tools that make a design faster — a good number of them were added at the request of the carpenters who use it.

  • drawing furniture as on paper: a carcass, dividers and shelves from lines that snap to each other, plus “Draw a panel” right inside the 3D furniture
  • the “Drawers…” and “Shelves…” dialogs: select a niche, give the number and the spacing
  • cabinets with lift-up flaps
  • maths in dimension fields: type 500+10, 720/2 or 600-18*2
  • picking a decor from a photo grid, with realistic edge-band textures
  • a warning when furniture sticks out through the ceiling or a wall, with a “Shrink to the room” button
  • furniture with or without legs, a performance mode for large projects and a search where “dab” finds “Dąb”
  • 3D rendering with PBR materials and HDRI lighting

Coming in the next few days

More features are already in testing and will reach the program in the next few days:

A “Hardware” module is planned as well: a full hardware screen for the whole room with a 2D view of each wall.

  • L- and U-shaped kitchens with corners in the built-in wizard
  • a library of ready-made kitchen cabinets
  • GTV hinges, Modern Box drawers and Blum, Hettich, Grass and GTV flap lifts as 3D models
  • fronts in an aluminium frame with a mirror, glass or lacobel panel
  • sockets, switches and other items on the room's walls, at their exact position
  • maths in every dimension field, including the drawer and shelf dialogs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?
No. Prosciej runs in the browser, so you just open the website. You can start the editor demo straight away, without creating an account.
Does it work on a Mac?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so it works the same on a Mac and on a Windows computer.
Is there a free version?
Yes. The Free plan is a demo of the editor: you can design furniture in 3D, but without saving projects or exports. Saving, PDF, DXF, CSV and the client link come with the paid Standard plan. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Does Prosciej export DXF for CNC?
It exports a DXF with the outlines of the parts laid out on the sheets, with separate layers for each piece of furniture and the grain direction. It does not yet contain holes, drilling for hardware or routing; that is announced as “coming soon”.
Where do the board prices in the quote come from?
From your own price list. Decors ship without prices: you enter a price per m² for each decor and thickness and a price per metre for edge banding, by hand or by importing a CSV file.
Does the client need an account to see the design?
No. They get a read-only 3D preview link, with no prices and no cutting list, and open it in the browser.
